Here are some potential things you could start with:
Make a commitment to the spiritual life by doing everything in your power not to make choices that lead to suffering… Of course, way easier said than done. But it helps to go ahead and set the commitment. It becomes a daily practice.
Forgive anyone you need to forgive including yourself. Then keep forgiving. There will be countless things that come up in your life where you’ll need to forgive. This too is a life-long practice.
Unconditional love. The goal is to love everyone unconditionally. In order to develop this, you can practice acceptance. Everyday, notice when you want to judge, criticize, attack, or express dissatisfaction with something. Instead, you can practice accepting these things as they are. This is especially hard to do with people, but it’s going to be important to learn how to accept people as they are.
And one more, prayer. If you begin to pray to whomever you see as higher than yourself. You could even pray to you “higher self.” This is a practice in surrender. What do you pray for? Pray that you become more spiritual and pray for progress in non-attachment, forgiveness, unconditional love, and acceptance.
