Can we backslide to our old consciousness after enlightenment, or will we be permanently changed by our new level of awareness?
Answers are in bold text.
There are many levels of consciousness leading up to Ultimate Realized Experience. Levels are characterized by how “clean” or “dirty” your mirror (awareness/consciousness) is. If the mirror is clean and absolutely pure, then that’s absolute realization and identification with God. The term “awakening” doesn’t equate to absolute God experience. Awakening is a process that’s ignited by the the grace of God, along with the intuitive sense that there’s something more than just the physical world. That journey to understand the Self and the big 3 questions is within the awakened state/journey. The big 3 questions are: (1) where did I come from, (2) why do I exist/what is my purpose, (3) what happens to me after the body dies? Of course, there are other big questions too like why is there evil in the world/what is evil?
If you are aware of these 3 questions and are actively investigating the answers to them, then you are awakened (there are other signs of awakening too). But that doesn’t mean your mirror is absolutely pure. So, YES. You can revert back to old consciousness after awakening. Why?
