God & The Omnipotence Paradox: Rethinking God’s Power
Can God create a rock he cannot lift?
The language currently available to humans isn’t a language that can absolutely describe the Ultimate Reality (God) or the powers of that Reality.
To people that believe in God:
Whatever conception of God’s power you create fails to accurately describe God’s power. God’s power always transcends any conception of God’s power (this too is a conception of God’s power which his power transcends… what?… exactly). Human logic and language cannot “catch” God. In order to step through the paradox door into “God’s World,” human reason and language must be left — these things may not pass through the paradox door. Even that which we call, “i” may not pass through this door.
To atheists or people that question God’s omnipotence:
Current human language isn’t able to accurately describe what is INFINITE, so the unreasonable question: “Can God create a rock that…” gets an equally unreasonable answer. The clever “rock” question is trying to probe into the INFINITE with tools that are by nature limited. Whether the answer is “yes” or “no,” the answer is limited. Then the questioner says, “Ha! So God is limited!” No. You just asked a limited question that MUST get a limited answer. This question is a limited probing tool that…
