Prerequisites for experiencing awakening
Purity is the most important requirement. Purity of body, mind, heart, soul, intention, thought, word, deed, etc.
How can I purify body?
Start by removing things that overtly alter consciousness. Drugs and Alcohol are the obvious ones. Then start be removing things that alter consciousness more subtly, like meat.
How to purify the mind?
How the body eats, the mind eats too. Porn, social media, video games, movies, etc. all overtly alter the mind. Remove these. Then remove more subtle things like certain things you read. One of the hardest aspects of purifying the mind is purification of thoughts. Here’s a loose quote from Jesus, “You commit adultery even if you think about laying with another woman.” Yeah, so most of us are walking around all day committing adultery.
Heart?
Purifying your heart has to do with the practice of letting go of anger and resentment and cultivating perfect forgiveness.
Soul?
By purifying your body, mind, and heart you’re purifying your soul.
Intentions?
Everything you do is based on the intention of offering up the action to the Lord as a service with no desire or expectation of reward. If you tell someone, “I love you.” And are hurt when they don’t say it back, you didn’t tell them you love them with a pure intention because you expected something in return. Purifying intention is really hard.
Word?
Tell the truth. Don’t complain. Don’t gossip. Don’t use words as a sword.
